GRIDS ACTIVATED 3
W9SNR/R CLAIMED SCORE: 62424
After all the "I'm not going to be on" Emails that I saw, activity turned
out to be fairly decent. Probably as good as last year, when I made more
OSQs, but visited 5 grids vs. 3 this year. QSOs per grid were 41 last year,
vs. 59 this year. Overall claimed score was only about 7k lower than last
year.
Propagation was also OK; I think it was better than what was indicated on
the Hepburn Tropo forecast. Also a bit better than last year, too, judging
by the higher 222, 432, & 1296 multipliers this time.
So what does this all mean? I think that activating just 3 "Chicago" grids
is OK. Might do better with 1 or 2 more grids, but they should be in a
fairly distant spot, so I pick up more grids from local activity and
different propagation. Maybe something like EN54/64 would work out.
