Hello all,
I wanted to update our plans and make another general request for contacts.
Contest starts at 1 pm on Saturday and runs until 10 pm on Sunday.
Christopher and I have just about got the antennas and mobile antenna mount
ready to go. We will be going to EN42 first, then moving to EN52, EN53,
then finally back to EN43. Since we live in EN43, we'll cut that one short
if necessary.
We're going to try to leave the house around 3:30 pm and my son will begin
calling CQ while mobile on 146.55 MHz FM. I'd really love it if the
"locals", which includes folks in La Crosse, Viroqua, Richland Center, etc.
could be listening and catch us while we're in EN43. WB9SBD in La Valle has
already promised to listen for us and recruit his family members for extra
QSOs as well. Thanks Joe!
Then we'll set up in EN42 and put out the call, hopefully about 6 pm. We
will try to call on the hour using a vertical yagi on 146.55 MHz FM toward
La Crosse, then swing that beam to the east incrementally. We'll probably
only be on FM for about 15 minutes in each grid, then focus on SSB/CW. We
would love to hear some guys on FM! Try to work us in all four grids, then
listen for other activity and work some other stations as well. We'll
announce what we're doing, but the proposed schedule is 1800-1850 in EN42,
1900-1950 in EN52, 2000-2050 in EN53, and then 2100-2200 in EN43. Then
we'll call CQ again on 146.55 FM on the way back home. That could get all
jumbled up, depending on Murphy, band conditions, etc. but at least that's
the plan.
Our SSB calling freq on 2 meters will be 144.205. Please also listen for
N9WU/R, who will also be in EN42 while we're there. He has selected 144.195
for his calling frequency. We'll be just a few miles apart, so you should be
able to work both of us with just a spin of the dial.
73 and hope to contact you,
David W9HQ
