Hello all,
This is the first announcement of our plans for the ARRL VHF contest this
weekend. My son Christopher (KC9JTL) and I are planning on roving to the
grid convergence by Dodgeville, WI (grids EN42/43/52/53) on Saturday
evening. As things stand, we'll shoot for being on the air around 6 pm and
spending about one hour in each grid. We will have 50 MHz, 144 MHz, 432 MHz
all modes and will be QRP FM-only on 223.5 MHz.
Obviously we'll be calling a lot on 2 meter SSB, but we will be setting up a
separate vertically polarized yagi for 2 meter FM (and possibly 446 MHz) and
will CQ toward La Crosse, Richland Center, Madison, Milwaukee, and Dubuque
from each grid on 146.55 MHz FM. So we would really welcome FMers!!!!
Please have the rig on 146.55 and see if you can hear us.
I'll try to lock down the schedule, frequencies, and the grid order as we
get closer (not much time left!)
This is our first rover attempt and we're excited about it; hopefully we'll
get plenty of action. I would very much appreciate you keeping an ear out
for us from about 6 - 10 pm Saturday night; we'd love to contact you. I'll
send more details later in the week as we firm things up.
73 for now,
David W9HQ
