How about scheduling a specific time, first 1/4 hour every hour or something for all Metro area stations to point SW?? If I hear a local station working a rover in Nebraska, I will LISTEN instead of just listen.? QSB can work for you too.

Subject: [NLRS] Midwest Mania! First notice

Hello NLRS'ers:

I'm roving in Nebraska and Kansas for the upcoming Sept VHF
contest on the 12th and 13th. Yes, I'll be too far away at
the start of the contest to be heard in the Twin Cities. But
by Sunday evening, you might be hearing me on 2, 222, and
432 from EN01/11/02/12. Months ago, I talked with Dave
KA0KCI who roves in Kansas for most contests. He said
there's not much activity out there. Well, I view that as a
promotions challenge!!!

So I started Midwest Mania! as a way, for one contest, to
raise the activity level and fun across the Great Plains. My
real interest was in raising activity in Kansas, Nebraska
and South Dakota. Well, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Missouri would
be nice too. So, I keyed on the Midwest Division but could
have called it Great Plains Mania! :-) .

Anyways, first look at the website is at:
http://w9fz.com/midwestmania09/
So far we have 4 rovers in the great plains: W9FZ/R,
KK6MC/R, WR0I/R, and KA0KCI/R. More rovers are welcome!
NLRS rovers: consider shifting your normal roves to the
south and west for this one! Any Iowa, South Dakota, or
Nebraska grids you could activate would be a welcome. If
you are a NLRS fixed station that will be making a special
effort to listen to your southwest for Midwest Mania!
activity, let me know.

I've got the website--to which I'll be making daily updates.
I have some spreadsheets (ala Rovermania) planned for the
next few days. I have 180 email addy's from the Great Plains
that I'll be emailing tomorrow night. I hope just some of
them get on. Ok, I hope they all get on :-) .

Thanks and I hope you work more Great Plains stations than
normal on account of Midwest Mania! Send along suggestions.

By the way, some rover MUST go activate the Dodgeville and
Wausau corners! :-)
