You get a two-fer tonight, if you want some activity on V/UHF.
I will be on for the 432 sprint tonight. The EN62/52/51/61 grid
corner on the NW side of Chicago will have K9JK, WB8BZK and K9GY roving.
WB9LYH from EN54cl will be very loud with two 144 MHz nets tonight.
144.240 from 7:15-8:30pm, and 144.250 from 8:30pm-9:30pm.
He'll start out looking south and move clockwise from there.
Both WB9LYH and I hope that we hear from NLRS'ers all across MN and
beyond. Mark has 500 watts and a pair of 17B2's and has already worked
WB0ULX in EN04 during a net some months ago.
I have no idea who really does read these posts carefully, but if I were
in the Dakotas, or W MN, W IA, or NE, I'd get on Wed. nights.
It's time to hear from those really out in the sticks, and give them a
reason to play radio more often. It also would be most appreciated if
someone would act as an occasional relay to those farther NW, W or SW. We
could get coverage into VE-land and well into the Dakotas that way. Think
about the longer-term implications for stirring up contest activity.
It will help if you forward this info to those who might not be subbed to
the reflector. Or provide me with some callsigns, and I'll do it myself.
NLRS gets some love on my website with a post I made late last night.

K0SIX was good enough to support the 222 Tuesday activity last night, and
Vince told me on the air that he had a great 6 meter net on Sunday evening.
Had 17 check-ins and heard from PA and OH. Good to work some DX on 6 in
October. :)
I'm all about letting everyone within several hundred miles know about
the weekly options on V/UHF. How many times have we heard ops say they gave
up on weak-signal because there wasn't enough activity?? And how can you
attract new ops, if they don't know what nights to be on, or where to look?
Another way to improve activity is to use real-time chat during nets and
band openings. We now have a solid option for this. It's free, and
already in use by hundreds of US/VE hams for enjoying 6m DX. This now needs
to be used for 144, 222 and 432 activity. The European stations that are on
the 144/432 chat during our days are asleep at night, so we basically have
the place to ourselves.
See my website post http://kc9bqa.com/?p=1072 for 7 simple steps to
get signed up to the VHF/UHF chat at www.on4kst.com. Shouldn't take more
than 5 minutes. Several of us will be there tonight, in conjunction with the
nets. I will be happy to let chatters know where WB9LYH is looking and who
he's working, in real-time, via this chat. We will also be using this every
Tuesday to help promote the 222 Tuesdays concept.
Comments and questions are always welcome,
73,
