[NLRS] 222 Tuesday is *ON* tonight

Friendly reminder for you VHF'ers with 222 MHz to get on
and support the band with activity. Try this any Tuesday night
you are available. Call CQ, swing the beams, look around.

Of course, it's a lot more enjoyable if guys are actually on.
Toward that goal, spread the word in your area. A few here,
and a few there, and we'll get 222 Tuesdays cooking.
The activity has been best in the MI/OH area. N8WNA
John in EN82 and KC8QAE Gerry in EN91 actually got
this started some months ago. This whole 222 Tuesday
was their idea. Consider me the publicity department.

I can publicize all day long, but in the end, you guys will
determine whether 222 Tuesdays make a comeback or not.
We'll need more than the usual 5-10 guys, week after week.

Some of you purists will laugh at me, but do consider
making some noise on your local FM scene. Put a few
calls out on 223.500 and see who comes back. I've had
some success (although it takes time and patience) with
getting FM simplex hams involved with weak-signal SSB.
We certainly need new guys on the bands, so do what you
can to encourage them.
If you only get on for contests, consider trying a little
harder. I used to only get on for contests, too. I changed
my ways and it's making a big difference in my part of the
world. Regular weekly activity is up, and many of the newer
guys have now done some contesting. It's a win/win. But if
newer guys only hear activity 4-5 times a year (contests) few
will stick with weak signal V/UHF.

PS: I'll update later about the 144 nets for tomorrow night.
It looks like you guys are going to get your chance to MAKE
YOUR OWN FUN! Both WB9LYH and I are unavailable.
I'll say more later on, but start thinking creatively about what
you can do tomorrow night, without net controls.
