Hello all,

I'm very new to the NLRS e-mail list, so perhaps I should first
introduce myself. I'm back into the ham radio hobby after a long
hiatus, especially having a great time doing ham radio stuff with my
son Christopher, KC9JTL. You can see a bit about me here
(http://w9hq.blogspot.com/2008/12/welcome-to-standing-waves.html) and
about our first VHF contest here
(http://w9hq.blogspot.com/2009/01/kc9jtl-in-2009-vhf-sweepstakes.html).
We had an absolute blast in the ARRL VHF Sweepstakes contest a couple
of weeks ago and I'll be writing up our adventures for the blog soon.

Never thought I'd be into VHF-UHF, let alone SHF stuff. But I think
the bug is biting or, perhaps more accurately, has bitten.

Now, to the meat of this message, I looked back seven or eight months
or so in the NLRS archives to see if there had been any talk about a
possible group buy to build W1GHZ transverters. Didn't come up with
anything, so I'm wondering if there's been any talk about that amongst
yourselves perhaps at club meetings.

I'm also wondering if anybody has any comments/insights on the W1GHZ
transverter design in general. I'm intriqued by it. I'm a guy who
always has too many projects going at once, but if this design seems
solid and there was ever a group buy, well, I guess I'd pretty much
have to get in on that action.

73,

David W9HQ
