Tom - This is a good point.
Traditionally, VHF Yagis have been described by the number of
elements. As you point out, the length is a better indicator of gain.
However, I think that most people have trouble grasping the
performance of Yagis specified in terms of wavelength. Somehow, a 6
element Yagi conjures up a vision of performance that 7/8 wavelength
Yagi does not seem to.
Perhaps better yet is specifying the design, that is a a WA5VJB 6
element, 2 element Moxon, a Cushcraft 13B2, and so on.
I will be out roving this weekend, but unless there is a good Sporadic
E opening, we are unlikely to connect. - Duffey
