2008 Limited Rover Award

2008 represents the fifth year for  Rovermania and the third year that the 
NLRS has sponsored the Limited Rover  Award. The NLRS Limited Rover Award is

given to those ARRL August UHF contest  rovers with the highest rover 
scores using three bands or less. Full rules can  be found on the NLRS web
site 
at http://www.nlrs.org/LimitedRover/index.htm .  

The recipient of the 2nd place Limited Rover Award for 2008 is Mike  
Metroka, WB8BZK. Mike's score of 23,421 points was generated using 222, 432,
and  
1296. On 222 Mike had 70 Q's by 18 grids, on 432 73 Q's by 12 grids, and on 
1296  he had 34 Q's x 7 grids, totaling 177 Q's by 37 grids. During the 
contest Mike  traveled to four unique grids and placed 8th in the nation 
compared to all  rovers. Congratulations to Mike for a fine second place
finish.

The 1st  place Limited Rover Award for 2008 goes to Dave Aho, N9TTX. Dave 
score of 30,450  points was also generated using 222, 432, and 1296. On 222 
Dave had 49 Q's by 20  grids, on 432 56 Q's by 27 grids, and on 1296 he had 
35 Q's by 11 grids. During  the contest Dave traveled to eight grids, a 
significant number considering that  the UHF contest is only 24 hours long. 
Dave's score placed him in 6th place  overall amongst all rovers in the
nation. 
Congratulations to Dave for his first  place finish.
