The 144.240 (7:15pm) and 144.250 (8:30pm) nets are *ON* tonight, as they
are every Wed. (lightning permitting) If you don't already know how my nets
operate, check out the posts at http://www.kc9bqa.com

The ARRL June VHF QSO Party starts at 1pm on June 13th and runs thru 10pm
June 14th. All bands and modes from 6 meters on up are in play. Here's the
rules: http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2009/june-vhf.html

Propagation is better in June, overall numbers of contesters is higher,
so do yourself a favor... If you enjoy active VHF/UHF bands, you'll want to
play in the contest next weekend.

We know that talking up your contest plans ahead of time really improves
participation. There's already an update on my website from
May 30th and more will follow, right up until contest time. If you check out
the website for a few minutes a couple of times a week, you'll be on top of
what's going on. NLRS and CVVHF list members, post your plans here, like
W0ZQ has.

Experienced contesters already know what I'm about to say about the
summer contests and 6 meter openings. But if you pass this info on to
someone who doesn't know much about contesting, it really gets them thinking.
Everyone is capable of getting someone new into VHF/UHF and Contesting, so
start spreading the word. Always think about what you can do to improve
VHF/UHF in your backyard.

The contests are only fun if they are active. This June contest
*can* be spectacular because 6 meters often opens up to all parts
of the USA, and surrounding countries. It is entirely possible to
work 20, 30, 40 states and 50, 100 or more grid squares on 6
meters alone, in the June contest.

If you don't believe me, check out my July 2006 contest story
at: http://kc9bqa.com/?p=263 In about 27 hours, I worked
600 Q's on 6 meters, and 170 different grid squares. Had a ball!

Any questions or comments, just ask me.
     73,
