While I really should be in the woods logging, I've decided
to play ham radio after all on Sat and Sunday. I'm doing the
same old 8-grid rove I've done many times. The pace on
Sunday
should be pretty relaxed with ample time to bang away in all
directions.
If I hear you calling off the back, I will acknowledge you
and finish in the direction I'm pointing. That said, if
those of you in the direction I'm pointing hear the folks
that are calling me off the back, let me know and let's see
I can help set the two of you up. This rove--halfway
between Minnesota's belt of activity and the
Milwauke-Chicago-
Michigan belt--might help bring the two areas together. If
you
hear the other bunch, let me know and see if I can match you
up--either on my freq or suggesting one further up the band.
If I'm just CQ'ing in some direction and hear you off the
back,
you can bet I will spin to work you! Hey, if you only hear
my CW weakly, give me some dits and I'll try to peak up on
you.
Yes, I've seen the messages from K0AWU, AI9Z, and other
northerners. I hope to work you from the north end of my
rove
when things are easy AND from the south end of my rove when
I
have more time in each grid to bang away.
The reason I'm using the KB9C/R call is because it is the
Badger
Contesters club call and it needs more use! Also, there is
a
chance that I'll have an additional operator for Sunday. It
will
be a new, young ham so bear with us. We all know the
importance
of getting other new folks hooked on this stuff we do.
I have to rush to load my equipment on Friday afternoon.
Then proceed to the farm and load the antennas on Fri night.
Sat morning I'll depart for the Wausau grid corner. Saturday
will be spent all at that grid corner. In the middle of the
night, I'll drive southward, catch some sleep at home, and
then
proceed to Dodgevile, WI trying to be on the air before 8am.
By the way, last year's travelogue is at:
http://w9fz.com/janvhf08/index.html I hope we are able to
recreate the highlights from last year and more.
I'll take 10GHz, but there's no guarantee it will work or be
pleasant to do :-) . But of course, the contester in me
wants
the Q-pts and mult :-) .
Multi-ops! I will be chirping APRS as KB9C-15 during this
event!
