Hello NLRS land
Aurora 2009 (Saturday, May 30) is starting to take shape. Bill Davis,
K0AWU, has stepped forward to take the lead on our technical program and already
has a great start. We are ALWAYS interested in ideas and suggestion that YOU,
our club members, may have for technical presentations. Perhaps you have
some ideas for presentations, perhaps you would like to present yourself ....
in either case drop a note to K0AWU with your thoughts & ideas. This is a
great bunch of guys to present to, so fear not, and John, W0JT does an
outstanding job with his A/V support. So please give this some thought and drop a
note to Bill, K0AWU. We are looking for both IDEAS and PRESENTERS.
I would also like to point out that Central States is in Chicago,
essentially our back yard, and it would be outstanding to see some NLRS presentations
at Central States. Making a presentation at Aurora'09 can be used as a
practice round for a bigger audience at Central States, if you so desire .... just
something to consider. If you have an interest in a paper and/or presenting
at Central States, drop Kermit Carlson, W9XA an email at w9xa at yahoo.com
and/or visit the CSVHFS.org website.
Last, we are seeking input for this years Wesslund Award. With Bob's recent
passing, this will be a special year. Nominations should be in text form
and submitted to one of the club officers - N0UK, KC0IYT, or myself. The
Wesslund Award states "The Wesslund Award honors Robert (Bob) Wesslund, W0AUS, for
his many years of significant contributions to the Northern Lights Radio
Society and for his continuous work with mentoring others in the World above 50
MHz. This award is presented annually to recognize those NLRS members who
have assisted others in gaining knowledge and access to the bands above 50 MHz."
In closing, please consider a presentation at Aurora'09 and perhaps Central
States. Also, give some thought to nominations for the Wesslund Award.
73, Jon
W0ZQ
