Hi Joe.
IF you are using the "ALC" control for the 875D to control the output power, you
might consider a scheme like Mel, KC0P uses: (Mel, if you see this, please hop
in with details !!) He biases the ALC to far beyond cut-off ALL the time (even
in RX). When he goes to TX mode, he releases the bias to the TX level he needs.
Most users apply ALC to the desired TX level when they actually go to TX. This
type of operation may account for the "spikes" that are prevelent in MOST, if
not ALL 100 W radios when used as i.f. radios.
It will most likely require an additional relay and maybe a sequencer, but it
should be worth it !!
