Ok, I am going to be a devil's advocate here. Why should he know? Q
signals are abbreviations for CW. One would have to have used CW. One of
my pet peeves is the use of Q signals in voice and I am guilty of it. It's
geeky. It is part of the reason we get a bad rap in ER communications and
makes intra-service communications difficult from their point of view.
Military, Marine, and Aviation SSB does not use it. It is akin to using
10-codes in CB. That being said it can be useful in contesting but silly in
jaw-boning. When was the last time you told the ham on the other end of
your cell phone the QRM is causing you to miss things on your Cell Phone?

About a month ago I heard a guy calling CQ on 40m SSB .. I gave him a call
and we visited a bit ... I had some QRM and told him the QRM was causing me
to miss things every once in a while. He asked "what do you mean QRM"??? No
idea .... I sent him a copy of the Q signals ....
