Hello,
W9HQ David told me he's going to try checking into the net
tonight, hopefully from a high-up hotel room in the St. Paul area.
Here's what he sent me:
>>>I'm going to bring a 4 element beam and my FT-897 with me
to St. Paul thisweek, so I'll be trying to get into the net from there.
I'm going to try and get a third story hotel with a south-east facing
window. I doubt you'll be able to hear me, but maybe others will.
Are there check-ins from the Twin Cities? I'll have to go back
and look. It would be fun to have them listen for me. And maybe
some of the La Crosse guys will hear me too.>>>
KC9BQA continues...
W9HQ and his son KC9JTL put up a nice score in the Jan.
ARRL VHF, from EN43, and they're eager to improve things, add
bands, etc. Give David a shout tonight if you hear him on. You
may want to slide down to 144.230, if there's a chance it would
QRM anyone trying to check into the net on 144.240.
I usually look toward La Crosse about 7:30-7:40. Then
toward Twin Cities about 7:45-8pm. Give or take how busy I
am with check-ins off to the south.
Even if I can't work W9HQ, I hope others have fun with the
concept. The nets aren't really about me, it's about creating activity
everyone can enjoy on 144 SSB. Always feel free to spread out
during/after the net and work each other. Maybe just avoid
144.250 because that's where I call the Badger Contesters net,
which starts up at 8:30pm, right after the 144.240 net.
