Nets were a little slow last night and that was surprising
because the band was in very good condition. Too bad
part of the ARRL contest last weekend couldn't have had
propagation like last night.
Called multiple times at Twin Cities and Duluth/Superior,
as usual.
144.240 at 8pm, looking west thru north had 4 check-ins.
WB9LYH - Mark - EN54 Rudolph, WI 20 over S9
KC9IGB - Butch - EN54 Chilton, WI S9
*Butch has put up an 11el Cushcraft beam @ 38', and he
sounds great*
W9FZ - Bruce - EN43 near Hillsboro, WI S7
*Bruce still had his 144 junior boomer attached to the rover
from this weekend and checked in with 25 watts. Bruce hopes
to check in next week and will be happy to hand out EN43 to
anyone who needs it.*
W9GA -- Ken - EN53 Colgate, WI local
144.250 at 8:30pm, regular Badger net had 8 check-ins.
KC9KPV - Randy - EN53 Germantown, WI 30 over S9
*Randy's first time to the SSB net, and he was doing double
duty with the 10-10 net that starts at 8pm on Wednesdays.
Randy really had a booming signal, sounded great.*
KC9FJX - John - EN63 Brown Deer, WI S7
*John now has a pair of horizontal loops up 20' and he
sounded louder. He also was fired up about working two
new grids (EN74 and EN44) in the contest this weekend.
He'd also like feedback from list members about what
sort of modest-sized beam to put up for 144 work. I
asked John to post his question directly to the reflector.*
N9WU - Rick - EN53 Germantown S2
W9FZ - Bruce - EN43 still near Hillsboro S7
W9GA - Ken - EN53 Colgate local
WB9MXX - Nick - EN62 Pleasant Pr., WI 20 over S9
AK9F - Howard - EN61 Kankakee, IL S4
*W9GA and I had a nice chance to ragchew with Howard
some at the end of the net.*
KA9AJF - Jerry - EN53 Brookfield, WI S2
*Jerry checked in after I closed the net, and he was much
stronger on 146.43 so we carried forth there. After talking
some time, Jerry sure sounded like he'd enjoy being a
Badger Contester, and perhaps a rover in the future. I told
him to post to the reflector -- I hope he does.*
We also talked about the upcoming 2 meter sprint on
Monday night, Sept. 22nd, from 7-11pm. Please get on
and support this, and also listen and call on the preferred
FM frequencies of 146.55, .58 and 146.49. There will
definitely be some interested FM ops for this sprint. As
well as some potential new ones on SSB.
