Good day,
Ended up with 4 check-ins last night. We had:
WB0MCO - Dave EN40, SE IA. Signal was S5-7.
KA0PQW - Matt EN33, S.Cent. MN. S5-7 signal
WB9LYH - Mark EN54, Cent. WI 15-20 over S9
KC9FQD - Dave EN54, Cent WI S9
I took about 20 minutes to slowly turn the beams from SSW to
SW, then W, and NW, and finally N, looking for check-ins. I start
out looking SSW, and call CQ about every 10-15 degrees. If I
don't get too busy, I usually end up looking north about 8pm, and
then I get back to the original check-ins, and give everyone a
chance to say hello.
Last night, WB9LYH wanted to work WB0MCO direct and
after about 8:25, they were able to do just that. Conditions last
nite were pretty decent -- I was able to hear both of them lightly
off
the side of my beam.
So if you'd enjoy more activity on the air, consider joining us
on Wed. nights, on 144.240, at 7:45pm. Or on 144.250 at 8:30pm,
when I run the regular Badger Contesters net. Most of our check-ins
there are from SE WI and N ILL, but I do look a full 360 with the
beams. I typically look toward Iowa/W ILL about 8:35-8:40pm
on 144.250.
The better option is 144.240 at 7:45, though. During that 45
minutes, I *only* look from SSW thru N. This is deliberate -- to
try
and find the weaker, farther away stations.
Finally, when I send out an email like this, it gets bounced
back to me as spam for the fellows who have ARRL.net email
addresses. So I have no way to contact the following hams:
KB0DCO, W0WOI, W0MTW, KF0Q, KC0QVH, N0ADQ,
KM0T, W0OHU, K9OT, WQ0A, KONY, and KODP.
If you know of an alternate email address for these fellows (not
their ARRL.net ones), go ahead and forward this to them.
I'm not trying to spam anyone; I'm promoting on-air activity.
The email reminders work; guys often tell me that they would
have forgotten unless they received email.
73,
Todd KC9BQA EN63ao 40 N of Milwaukee
50 thru 2304
