Good evening,
We had our first shutout with the 144.240 W thru N net
from 8-8:30 tonight. Called CQ thru the quadrant 3 times
and heard nobody. Cx's didn't look that great, so oh well.
I may need to start including the Iowa/Western Illinois
areas in this 144.240 effort; I can email several dozen
stations I've worked in those areas. Perhaps KA0PQW can
help spread the good word in those areas, hi Matt. :)
QST -- I will not be running nets next Wed., Oct. 8th.
Instead, I will be in the 432 sprint, that runs from 7-11pm.
I hope we can work some good stuff on 432 next Wed. Was
talking with W9GA tonight and we will be looking in all
directions. Email the reflectors with your plans. Doing
this creates a positive ripple effect.
144.250 net had 10 check-ins tonight, with pretty flat
cx's. Check-ins were:
WB9MXX - Nick EN62, Pleasant Prairie, WI S1
KC9KPV - Randy EN53, Germantown, WI 20 over
*Randy has plans to get beams for 6 and 2 up about
50', good luck Randy with your project*
K4QH - Phil EM66, Greenbriar, TN S1-2 w QSB
*Phil seems to create his own prop. 1500W amp helps. :)
Phil also remarked that he was hearing a fair amount of
the 146.43 FM activity last Thursday, when conditions
were much better.*
KA9AJF - Jerry EN52 Brookfield, WI S5
WB9WOZ - Bruce EN61, SW of Chicago S1 Q5 copy
*Bruce's first time checking in and great to hear him*
W9GA - Ken EN53 Colgate, WI 20 over
N9WU - Rick EN53 Germantown, WI in n' out S3
AK9F - Howard EN61 Kankakee, IL in n' out S1
W7FSS - Nick EN52 Brookfield, WI 20 over
*Nick is easing back into ham radio as fall and winter
starts. He's got a nice 13-el homebrew up 35', and he
can crank it up to the 85' level. Wonder if he'll feel
like contesting in ARRL Jan VHF?? (Jan 19-20)*
N9NDP -- Harvey EN62 Kenosha, WI S7
*Harvey was working some DX on 20m with his Ten-Tec
Paragon and a Cushcraft R5 vertical. Italy, Spain, Turkey.
Thanks everyone for checking in. See you on Oct. 15th.
Hope to hear you in the 432 sprint next Wed. the 8th.
73,
Todd KC9BQA EN63ao 40 N of Milwaukee
50 thru 2304
