Thank you John for that info and the links. I have been wondering the same
things and not finding much info on the net. I think this is one of those
OT subjects that most of us are wondering or curious about, doesn't hurt to
put some knowledge in everyone's hands.

Now i understand better what the manual for one of these digital converter
boxes was talking about, it mentioned for example if your used to watching
channel 11 for your abc affiliate that the new digital signal from that
station would still be on channel 11 after the transition. I was under the
impression that the frequency and assignment changes would also affect the
channel numbers, but i guess they figured that they needed to keep that the
same. Makes sense, i think if you changed the channel numbers around here
the older folks would drop over in their chairs trying to find the evening
news or the afternoon soaps. (no offense to the older crowd! :-)

On a radio related note, it will be interesting to see how 6m sounds once
the transition is complete, but then the other posts this week about using
those available frequencies for something else is bothersome.

73,

Scott
