Hi Guys
For those of you that attended MUD08, you know that I was hinting at a new Softrock development. Well the cat is out of the bag. Now in Beta tests are plug-in converters one for 2m and the other for 6m for the V9 Softrock receiver. I built and have running the 2m converter today. With the ARR 2m preamp that I use here, the combination is within 2db of the best system in the shack for weak signal recovery.
Next will be to take a look at how it works as a 2m IF for 10Ghz, 902 etc. Again this is receive only. VERY IMPRESSIVE for <$40!! That is for the V9 receiver AND one converter. No Xtals needed!! This is a Si570 based combo and you can listen from 144.0 to 148.0 in samples either 48kc or 96kc wide, your choice (based upon your sound card). I would expect it to be released in quantity before the first of the year. Oh by the way ... unplug the converter and plug in the correct coil set and you can listen to 160-10m ..... "MAN I LOVE THIS STUFF!"
The Ver6.3RxTx is waiting on a FET. The 10m Lo feedthrough problem has been solved and I will soon have a report on it use as a 2m IF. This is also Si570 based and uses no Xtals ... tuning range ... 144.00 - 148.00 or more ... just have to use different turns on the coils .... PAs available 160-10m like the V9. Since it a 1w transceiver it costs more ... (4 different plug in PA boards to cover that range). With one PA still <$80
