Hello NLRS land.

This years Central States VHF Society conference is in Wichita, KS, July 24
through July 27. Wichita is a one day car drive from Mpls. If you have
never attended a CSVHFS conference before, this is the one. Their website is
http://www.csvhfs.org/ and click on "The 2008 Conference". If you have any
questions, ask. Many NLRS members attend and I expect that will be true again
for Wichita.

As announced at Aurora'08, the Microwave Update 2008 Conference will be held
here in Bloomington, MN, October 17 and 18. The hotel site is the Holiday
Inn Bloomington off of 94th Street & 35W. You can find more information
about this 900 MHz & Up conference at http://www.microwaveupdate.org/ . If you
have any questions, ask.

Both conferences can always use both presenters and papers. For both
conferences, you can write a paper for the Proceedings, you can present, or both.
This is a extraordinary opportunity to try your hand at authoring and/or
presenting. For the CSVHFS conference, the proceedings chairman information
can be found on their website under "Call for Papers".

For Microwave Update, VE4MA is our technical program chair and I am the
Proceedings (papers) chair. If you have any interest at all on writing or
presenting on a subject dealing with 900 MHz and up, please do not hesitate to
contact Barry or myself. Our role is to assist you in creating your
presentations, so if you have not had any experience with this before, fear not !!!

In summary, please give attending either or both of these conference a
thought. Central States is well suited for those with a broad interest in VHF &
Up and typically draws about 200 VHFers. Microwave Update is focused on 900
MHz & Up and typically appeals to a smaller group of about 90 to 100
microwavers. Also, please consider writing a paper, or presenting, or both .... the
Microwave Update website "Call for Papers" has some suggested topics. If
your interested, make sure to drop Barry or myself a note ... we can help you
frame up a potential topic as well as assist with writing & formating. The
deadline for papers for Microwave Update is August 31 to get any papers in to
me .... for Central States its June 2.

Both of these conferences are really fun events with open minded individuals
who are very interested in sharing VHF & Up experiences. Please give this
some consideration.

73, Jon
W0ZQ
