Hello Everybody, After the new rover rules were published allowing family operations we looked forward to the June contest. We have had a power issue that cut short last September's participation and we were not able to go out in January. So, we thought that we'd give it a shot again after checking out lots of different variables.

Out 220 xvrtr went deaf, so we did a 6, 2, 432 and 1296 effort and all went well. We weren't sure what would happen when we got out there with our power problem, but it looks like our isolator failed, and we'll be replacing it straight-away.

We came home Saturday night as opposed to overnighting on the road because there were forecasts of severe thunderstorms and sure enough there was a real hum-dinger at 7:15 AM Sunday. We had 60 MPH winds and some "great googly moogly" lightning to go along with it. The all-clear was sounded at 11:00 AM so we took to the road for a few more grids.

We enjoyed the 6 meter openings and the Au, working KA0RYT on 2. We bagged it around 8:00 PM Sunday since we had a big meeting in the morning and didn't want to be wiped out. We both worked about 250 Qs -- we never wind up with the same totals. I got two that Pat didn't and she got one that I didn't so I get the family bragging rights this time! It was nice to be welcomed back by so many and we enjoyed the event.

We had planned to do both the CQ event and Rovermania, but we have family milestones that have to be observed on those weekends. My mother's 85th birthday celebration conflicts with CQ and Pat's parents 70th(!) wedding anniversary is taking place in California during the same weekend as the UHF Contest.

So, look for us in September, with all bands 6 through 2304 in operation. When we finish the logs, we'll post our scores.

73, Tim K0PG
