Hi all,
I'm sure that you have heard the NLRS group ran away
with the 2007 SBMS Microwave contest. It was a lot of fun
working the rovers on the bands from 2304 to 10 GHz.
We haven't made any plans for 2008 yet but I'm sure there will be a group
of NLRS ops out having fun again this year. I want to invite everyone
who is interested in observing the fun or operating on the microwave
bands to come and join us. The fixed group will be somewhere
near the cities. We hope to use Buck Hill if the weather cooperates.
If you want to try operating we can get you on the bands for
some Q's or if you want to stay around for a few hours, we
should be able to find a loaner rig for you to use. Our
operations are pretty relaxed compared to other contests.
The goal is to get out of the house after a cold winter, get a
good dose of RF and have some fun.
This years contest is scheduled for the weekend of May 10th
and 11th. Yes,I know it fishing opener, Mothers Day on the
11th and NLRS Breakfast is in Richfield on the 10th. The same
situation occurred last year.
I hope you can find some time to join us and see how much fun
it can be to operate on the microwave bands. Keep an eye on the
reflector for more info.
