[NLRS] IC-245 Questions...

I have one of those with missing 5 volts somewhere on the main boards.
The construction of the PCB is exactly like the Radio Shack scanners of
the late 70's. They were too cheap to use plated thru holes. Instead,
they put a hollow rivet into the hole and attempted to solder it to the
PCB both top and bottom. Usually the soldering was so bad that it
wouldn't adhere to the rivet on the top, sometimes not even on the
bottom. I have never taken the time to try and fix the IC-245, but I did
fix hundreds of scanners by resoldering every rivet I could find. In
most cases it did turn out to be one rivet in a fairly small area that
was the culprit. But I made sure they all had solder down the middle,
and then made sure I bridged the solder over the edge of the rivet to
the PCB copper both top and bottom. If your problem is on the display
PCB, you probably don't have that many rivets to resolder so consider
yourself lucky.

I don't know if this will fix your problem, but it's my story and I'm
sticking to it....
