Hello NLRS land.
The ARRL UHF contest results are out on the Leagues website. Overall, the
total number of logs was down from last year, a slight reversal from the
previous three years of increasing activity.
Despite the slight drop in total logs locally there were some tremendous
results. Mike, KM0T, for the fourth consecutive year takes home the bacon
with the #1 spot in the nation in the SOHP class. Mike had fewer Q's than
#2 WW8M, but had more multipliers. Also in the SOHP class and climbing
into the 4th spot in the nation was Gary, W0GHZ. In the multiop class,
hats off to the CVVHF guys who took K9CVC to a #2 spot in the nation. In
the highly competitive SOLP class, Dave, N0KP moved up a notch to #3 in the
nation. In the rover class, your author, W0ZQ/R four-peated as the #1
rover in the nation with Bruce, W9FZ/R, hot on my heels in the #2 spot.
Glen, KC0IYT/R secured the #10 spot. Looking at where the rovers were, MN
led with seven rovers, then WI and MI with three rovers each. After this
there were 13 other sections with one or two rovers each. As you can see,
despite the poor propagation and rain, NLRS and its area did very well
indeed.
So a tip of the hat to all those who got on and sent in a log. MN rovers
were W0ZQ/R, KC0IYT/R, WA0VPJ/R, K0HAC/R (+N0UK), KC0P/R, WB0LJC/R, and
W6GMT/R. Over in Wisconsin was W9FZ/R, N9UX/R, and N0EDV/R. There were
no rover logs sent in from IA nor SD (hint hint).
Yes, there will be Rovermania V. Although its a long time to August, now
is a great time to start thinking about roving, adding bands, and making
station improvements.
73, Jon
W0ZQ
