Great ideas from many of you on the 2 ele. I really like building stuff and the
combination of needing something for the rover, the curiosity 2 ele
performance, and having several chunks of .375" and .50" tubing available mean
that I hope to have something ready in the next few days. Many thanks to all
of you for the suggestions esp with respect to the feedpoint Z.
I was tweaking around with the software again last night and pretty much came to
the same conclusion as Jon, 'ZQ did with respect to the length of the driven
element.
After much tweaking I saved the file and found this really cool web page that
almost mirrored what I was looking for:
www.mydarc.de/dk7zb/6m/212.htm
(just look for DK7ZB if the link doesn't appear correctly....)
Any way these guys are doing some great things with only 2 ele on 50MHz. My
final "tweaked design" was almost exactly like the 28 ohm version I found on
the link. The great thing is that the boom is only 600mm long! ... which is
even better.
I like to put out a pretty decent signal on all bands while roving ... I know it
can be frustrating when you have less than optimum out there and the conditions
are poor. That said I think that a really good working reliable smaller
antenna that doesn't break during the contest is the way to go.
More later ... tnx again!

Matt
