This is a better explanation of the connector I was looking for the mate to:

It is a 24  pin Molex type connector on the back panel of the radio which
one pin is "Connected to Push-talk, T/R change-over switch. When grounded,
the set operates in the transmit mode" The connector also contains other
functions.

Thanks all who answered, from inserting individual  pins into the female
pins in the connector to places to find the mates.

When I get  it all sorted out I will repost with what find.
