Hello !! I would take a look at the "AMPS" reflector
and see what the MANY comments are about this specific
modification ...... Also , make sure that the amp is
stable up thru 10 meters ( can we say 'aged' grid
resistor replacement ? ) There is a few tricks on
performing this mod and there are several guys out
there buying alot of SB200 's and performing the
CORRECT 6m mod for a few bucks ( good luck on getting
'free' mod info )..... If I was concerned on keeping
this amp as a classic , I would not modify it - the
572 tubes used in it are at their upper freq limit -
Why not grab a Russian GS35 tube and homebrew an
amplifier for 6 m ?? It would 'loaf' along at the
legal limit or more. I am currently building a GS35
for 144 mhz and have the 4 kv pwr supply and FT897
'interface' already built. I will be tackling the
amplifier cavity this week ( aluminum metal work is
here )..... Good Luck on your 6m project - I am trying
my hardest to maybe be up at Grandma's farm (
KA0RYT/Portable EN35 ) for the UHF contest ( only on
432 ) and maybe run up the road north to EN 36 / EN26
to hand out those grids too. NO PROMISES - YET . I
hope to work several of you fellows then - 73, Ron
