Check with local machine shops. Many get weekly deliveries by truck from
their metal suppliers and can get aluminum that way too.
And look at McMaster-Carr. They sell various alloys, no minimum order,
they take plastic (but you have to ACT like a company with a company
name), and ship 6' lengths reasonably. They would ship to you, probably
out of the twin cities, for me its out of Omaha, though the main office
is in Chicago. www.mcmaster.com. You can shop and order on line, now.
Lumber yards and hardware stores often have 6 and 8' lengths of 1" OD
aluminum tubing also.
I checked with Texas Towers on a Yaesu cable last week. Something that
weighs maybe two or three ounces. They advertised a good price, shipping
was $9.95. They didn't make the sale. I've seen computer companies
advertise great prices and then make it up in shipping charges before,
and thats rampant on epay.
