The contest from this vantage was a challenge most of the contest period
with poor conditions and limited home stations. Saturday started off pretty
steady and all but one previous Aug contest total point highs fell by the
wayside one by one until evening and then the bands fell silent. Repeated
CQs on .100 and rover freqs where met with silence. So ... I called it a
night about10pm.

Up and "at it" at 6am... worked ZQ mobile on EN34 on 222 and 432. Then
heard and worked Brock W6GMT for the first of four grids with him
(EN37,EN36,EN26,EN27) on 432 only. KB0LBS, VE3KRP and KI0LE rounded out the
"north of MSP" log. Eddie was "easy" on 432 SSB and it sure was nice to
have Bryce in the log again on 432 and 1296. Then it was one at a time
usually no more than a couple an hour if I was lucky. Looking forward to
KB0LBS getting on 1296, he is working on it. Jim KB0CIM is on a vacation
road trip and EN37 was not worked on 222 or 1296 ... bummer.

Highlights have to include KM0T on 222 (almost never work Mike any more),
KC0P/R on 1296 in EN43, W0ZQ/R on 10Ghz tropo in EN33. Low points ... poor
conditions and number of rovers out of range. Ran out of time trying to work
Jim K0KFC on 10Ghz as the "clock ticked 1pm" ...

  Thanks to KC0P/R, W0ZQ/R, W6GMT/R and WA0VPJ/R that accounted for 48% of
all QSOs.

K9CVC was booming in here on 222 and 432 until mid morning Sunday. Chris
N0JCF had outstanding signals on 1296, peaking 5-5 SSB... Wow!! I heard
K2DRH Saturday briefly on 432 SSB, but no QSO and never heard him again.

All that said ... This was my best Aug contest, just beating my Aug 04
test.

  222 -- 22contacts 8 grids
  432 -- 34contacts 12 grids
  902 -- 3contacts 2 grids
1296 -- 10contacts 7grids
10Ghz - 2contacts 2 grids

71 QSOs in 31 grids

Total Points 8,370 ......

Thanks for the fun all, Bill K0AWU EN37ed
