For the impatient, you can go directly to...
http://www.nlrs.org/RoverPlans/2007-08/RoverMania.htm
In addition to fleshing out a few of the rovers' proposed routes &
timetables, correcting a few mistakes, you will also find a new link to
a page that summarizes ALL the stations (Fixed and Rover) that plan to
activate all the area grids, and each grid in that table has a link you
can click on to see a map of that grid.
There is a "bonus" on the last sheet of the Excel spreadsheet, for those
who have Microsoft Excel or a compatible spreadsheet program. That is a
table where you plug in YOUR location at the top, and all of the fixed
and rover stations are shown below with their bearing, reverse bearing,
distance in miles, and distance in kilometers. Of course, the rovers
are expected to rove (duh!) so you can plug in new locations for them
when they change grids. I left some room for more rover and fixed
stations to be added.
Looking at the grid maps, we have an impressive number of grids to be
covered by the rovers -- 38 at last count!
We have less than half as many grids covered by fixed stations (14), so
we need to get some more fixed stations to speak up! Those rovers need
some non-moving targets to aim at!
Wouldn't it be really special if someone actually worked all 40 grids
that are planned for activation by fixed and rover station? ;)
***PLEASE***
For everyone's maximum enjoyment (and score), if you find any errors in
your listing, please let me know ASAP and I will get them fixed. And if
your rover schedule is starting to firm up, please let me know and I
will make your schedule more specific. In many cases, all I had was a
list of "n" grids for Saturday and a list of "m" grids for Sunday, so
that's all I could put into the tables for now. And if you plan to play
but aren't listed yet, please send me your information so I can add it!
Speaking of adding missing information, you might have noticed that the
WØJT station is not (yet) listed anywhere. If I play from home, I will
basically be limited to 222-1296 with the possible exception of a Q or
two on 2304, 3456, and/or 10368 from my driveway if you can pull your
rover vehicle onto my street. :( If I go out as a rover, I can
potentially work any of those seven bands. I might try something else,
like assemble the rover station and park it in a good location for the
whole contest and operate as a fixed station, or maybe do a 4-corner
grid intersection. We'll see as we get closer.
So if I don't respond to your updates instantly, it may be because I am
working on my own station! :)
