Happy Easter to everyone. Well, the ham is ready and now I'm just waiting
for the family to show up, so time to play some radio. I did work N8S (Swain
Is) on 15m CW for a new country. I also just put up a second Par-loop for
6m, a stack of two, the top one at 48', the bottom one at 36'. It will be
interesting to see how they do this summer. I'm not expecting miracles, but
its kind of interesting to be able to hear in all directions more easily.

I then broke out the 10gig dish and set it up in the driveway. Yup, the air
is still cold, but the sun was nice. I can hear Dave's beacon, but the
direction has always made me wonder what I am hearing. From my house to the IDS
Tower, the bearing is 355 degrees, but I can hear nothing on that path
(remember that I am in trees). The bearing to the beacon is 318 degrees, and I
can hear nothing on that path either. But at 335 degrees with 10 degrees of
elevation, the beacon is S1 to S2 .... nice CW. So I suspect that I am not
hearing any scatter off of downtown, but that I am hearing scatter from a
common volume of illuminated air. I'm looking forward to Dave's other beacons
becoming operational to see what happens on the other bands.

73, Jon
