[NLRS] Question on use of 144.200

All,

I've posted my comments on the VHF Contesting Reflector...basically I feel
there is NO need for a ban of operations on 144.200 (or any calling
frequency on any band) PERIOD!

I can't agree more with Russ and Earl (Steve?)..."we" (the VHF/UHF
contesting community) need to work with/apply peer pressure to abate such
practices as monopolization of the calling frequencies, stateside stations
calling CQ in the 50 MHz "DX Window"...while I DIS-agree with anyone making
a rude comment as Russ related (probably UN-identified and therefore more
"lid" than the stateside station calling CQ there), "we" need to practice
what is preached. I hope that no one made a QSO with any stateside station
that was calling CQ in the 50 MHz DX Window...I didn't call the one that I
heard. If "newbies" make mistakes, let's try to be tactful in explaining the
error of their ways...if it's "old dogs" (like myself...I even have a
"Canine" call)...well...maybe we're out of luck there ;-) hi hi

Just as I suggested that "we" NOT work the stateside stations that "we" hear
calling CQ in the 50 MHz DX Window...maybe "we" need to NOT work the
station(s) that "we" think monopolizes a calling frequency, even if "we"
hear them calling away from there...if they have no one to work...they
_might_ get the idea (or they might go away though "we" don't necessarily
want THAT to happen, "we" DO want to keep the bands occupied).

I DO like the idea of a "Contesting Best/Appropriate Practices" web
page...still might not do anything for the "old dog" fraternity to which I
belong but might be a useful resource for younger dogs who may still be able
to learn new tricks as well as newbies.

I agree with Earl, we don't need more rules just
encourage better operating practice's.
The contests are so few and far between in comparison
to the whole year!
I heard someone on 50.120 calling CQ Contest this June
and someone broke in and made a rude comment. There
will always be LIDS no matter what you do.
Cheers, Russ
