Hello Northern Lighters:

It's almost here! A year ago, NLRS committed to being host
organization for the Central States VHF Conference. We knew we
had the manpower and interest to put on a great event. We've had a
core group that has had meetings throughout the year and who have
been on a separate email reflector with constant planning chatter.

Well, now it's here and there is need for more hands pitching in
beyond the "core group". If you intended to help out when the
time came, well, the time has come. :-)

Here's what we need:

We need you to be welcoming and engaging to all out-of-towners.
Ask opening questions like "where are you from?" and "what bands
are you on?" to engage them in conversation just like any CQ'd
QSO.

We need volunteers willing to take one hour stints manning the
dealer room with the following three duties: Keep tabs on the
dealers and make sure they are happy, keep tabs on the Poster
Sessions--particularly if there are valuable items out for
show-and-tell; and to keep tabs on the Noise Figure table. We
will have a sign-up sheet at the Regsitration table.

We also will need some help on the Antenna range Friday
morning--particularly 7am-8am for setup and certainly at Noon for
takedown.

We will need help 6:30p to 7pm on Friday to change the tables in
the lecture room into flea market tables. We'll have to move
tables and chairs. After the flea-market, we'll need many hands
to return the room to perfect lecture seating.

We also need volunteers willing to be Hospitality Suite Hosts.
Yes, Gary and Karlene Mohrlant (along with Carol Miller) are our
primary hosts. But they can't be there the entire night. So we
need folks willing to man the beverages and snacks (and room
pick-up) into the later hours. (Again, signup for a timeslot at
the Registration table.)

Those are the known needs at this time. You can tell the
registration table staff that you are available to help. They may
pencil you in on the duty roster for a specific time as "dealer
room monitor" or Hospitality Suite Host.

You will see the core group wearing some snazzy NLRS shirts.
Trust me, even though you may not have a special shirt on, we
still need your help as an NLRS member. And yes, those shirts
will be open for ordering right after the conference is over.

See you at the Registration table!
