[NLRS] 6m and up noise

I've seen and read more than one comment on 6m noise now. I thought I was
alone, but maybe not.
I've noticed a variable noise floor on 6m since I got back on 6m last
summer. I also noticed it on 2m this past weekend. I live on the NW side of
St. Cloud, and now with the 3element beam up I know the noise is worse
straight south of me, which puts the antenna pointing right at the
industrial park area of western St. Cloud. At it's worst it can be S7-9 on
the meter. Pretty much makes any week signal stuff impossible for me. I need
to go drive around and check if there is a power substation straight south
of me, which I suspect there is. If this is the case, has anyone else had
the problem? If you approach the electric company have they told you to get
lost? What's a good plan of attack for this other than selling the house and
moving out into the country? During the times of high noise I can turn the
beam NW to NE and drop the S meter down to zero. Seems to be worse during
the day, and quieter at night.
Any thoughts?
Brad
