Agreed. It's just a matter of finding suitable replacement parts when
needed.

I recently replaced the display in my -736 as over time it got dimmer and
dimmer and was eventually unreadable except in the dark.  Fortunately,
as of about a year ago, the display was still available from Yaesu but
it was not cheap!

If you wish to write up or post a rough outline of your procedure,
I would be happy to give it a try and provide some feedback for your
final publication.  I have MAV-11s in stock and so would be interested
in giving the mod a try.  I have 50, 222 and 1296 modules for my 736 with
222 and 1296 currently in service.
