it certainly doesn't take much airborne precip to see the effects of 
rainscatter.  Thne tone from Dave's beacon is now very raspy, just like 
listening to a local signal on the VHF bands during an aurora where one 
can hear both the pure T9 note as well as the scattered signal.

Very cool.  I was working here in the dining room yesterday (I'm on-call) 
for an extended period and it was fun/comforting to just have the beacon 
playing away in the background.  With the narrow CW filter engaged, there 
was no appreciable drift after an initial 60 minute warm up period.
