BCers and NLRSers,

In three weeks (and just a little over two hours from now as I am typing),
the September VHF Contest will be over. I realize that a lot of the NLRS
population will be "saving themselves" for the second weekend of the 10 GHz
contest but I thought I'd throw this out to at least plant this in a few
minds (and maybe someone who's on the CVVHF Reflector can cross-post).
Shortly thereafter, the Fall VHF & Up Sprints begin, with the first one for
144 MHz on the MONDAY evening immediately following that second 10 GHz
weekend.

For me in September, it's looking like a "Saturday-only" rove, at present,
starting at the 4 corners near "home" out in the NW suburbs of Chicago but
running up to Milwaukee in the evening before wrapping up my roving effort.
With the 3000 mile "long cut" my wife and I took to get home following the
CSVHFS Conference (which, and I presume it's not too late to say/echo the
previously posted comments of others, was GREAT!), we contributed enough to
the profits of the gasoline companies (not to mention the hospitality
industry), so it's necessary to cut back a little.

I ALSO plan to be active in ALL 5 of the Fall VHF & Up Sprints, roving to AT
LEAST THREE Grid Squares in each of them. For more specifics on those,
please visit the web site of the sponsor, the Southeastern VHF Society, at
http://svhfs.org/fall_sprint_rules.htm and these are now current with the
2006 dates.

What are others planning?

For NE Illinois and SE Wisconsin folks (mostly BCers), there IS the Radio
Expo at Grayslake NEXT weekend...a TWO day hamfest, Saturday AND Sunday.

Might there be any interest in setting a time for an impromptu BC meeting at
Radio Expo? Not sure which is the better day, though I plan to be there BOTH
days myself, and I suppose times could be set for both days.

BCers (though any NLRSers who might be in the neighborhood would certainly
be welcome!), please share your thoughts on that as well.

73, JK
