Despite the heavy weekend before. "Central States" This was going to be a laid back contest, BUT who would have thunk this would be what it was.

So here we go at last count there was going to be 16 rovers! WOW. That was more then last year and this was going to be laid back. A around of applause for WØJT for putting one nice Excel spread sheet together and getting up where everyone could see, that was a big help. It started off slow and pick up speed like it always does. Hay what's that QRM on 10 GHz, Worked 5 Q's in 3 mins is this the 10 G contest. That Jim KØKFC was pinning the needle from Wisc. Well the microwave tower is working. Back to the rovers, Found Gene, Jon and Gary worked them and turn my sights to the east, Where is every one I hear Bruce but not as strong But there was Bob K2DRH could have worked him with a wet noodle even at 3 GHz. By this time it was 10pm and the lighting was on the radar. Time to close down and try in the morning.

Only received 1/4 inch of rain. Hope this would give us a little propagation. Worked K2YAZ and after that the band just closed down. To the east, southeast nothing, What did the tower fall over, it was dead except the rovers and they where not as strong, hard to find, got to love conditions. Oh when N9TTX EN44 was working WBØULX EN04, We could hear TTX but not ULX and I mean WØZQ, WØGHZ and me looking to the west on 222 and 432 nothing. Explain that? Well it was all most 1pm and the activity was up. Hay Bruce W9FZ worked him for the last time.

So its done another Rovermaina down. Okay for the stats still checking the log for errors. For only operating 14 hours compared to 24 hours last year the score was 92349 plus or minus. Last year was 95760. Lets see operated fewer hours and almost the same scores from last year. Okay only one answer. ROVERS!!!!!!. A big thanks goes out to you for going out despite the gas prices. Hay Gene glad to see old blue still has it. I hope they stay low for the 10 GHz contest. Can you say Alaska pipeline. HELLO where was the maintenance. That's for off line. I could add lots more, but one needs some seed at the coffee shop. 73's Dave NØKP
