Hello NLRS. A peek at the NWS forecast discussion shows that there is some hope ..... some .... that we may be able to squeeze the antenna range in tomorrow morning. We will just have to wake up and see. Remember that it takes some time to set the range up, and there are some safety factors to consider as well, so Donn has the final say. The good news is that its not snow !
Regarding Sunday and the plans for the SBMS, with a 60% chance of rain on Sat evening and a 80% chance on Sunday, coupled with what the NWS forecast guys are saying, the Buck Hill fixed portable site is likely to be wet and perhaps muddy. Again, we can wait to see what actually happens, but as of Friday morning its looking bleek. However, what is taken away is regiven ..... rain scatter ! Depending on how hard the rain will be we still have an opportunity to work RS, especially on 5.7 and 10 GHz. The W0ZQ/R will have 2.3 and 3.4 dry inside the car, but 5.7 and 10 GHz needs to go outside, which I can do under the tail gate, as long as its not too windy & rainy, etc. So again, we will need to be flexible to see what the day brings. At this time, start thinking about a Plan B if the rain is too intense for a fixed portable operation at Buck Hill.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Au'06. Bring rain gear and positive thinking.
73, Jon
W0ZQ/R
