Every transverter I have seen out there wants a maximum of 100 mW. What do a ham do? The preferred rig is a TS-2000, currently the 6 M rig, or my faithful IC-706m2g. Don't want to put too much into it but then again don't want crap. Any ideas out there? Any info greatly appreciated.

On the FT-857 which I believe shares the boards of the 897, just is in a
different batteryless case, there is a 5th pin on the power connector
that drops power to 20 watts on HF through 2m and 10 watts on UHF when
grounded. Its labeled "battery sense".
In the alignment menu there are settings for minimum power for HF bands,
6m and VHF. These might be applied for transverter operation, but the
2003 vintage 857 manual I just checked barely mentions transverter
operation. I need to locate my newer 857 manual (that rig includes 60
meter operation).
