Oh Tim and Pat,
I have to weigh in on this development. My very gut level reaction is
to
ask if you won't reconsider and continue to rove in the very capable way
you always have? My rationale for this is as such: If you already have
an
email from N1ND stating that your roving style is approved, why not just
go with that? Isn't it quite possible that Dan Henderson might issue
another
sort of ruling on this matter, or say that he was in error, something
along
those lines? If that were to happen, then it would be a shame that you
and
Pat had changed another great rove on the basis of a short message
posted
to the VHF contesting reflector. (I'm assuming you haven't been
personally
contacted by N1ND on this new rule interpretation.)
I can very much empathize with your and Pat's disappointment. Truly.
I'm
just asking the two of you to reconsider your decision. I have a funny
feeling
that somehow, eventually, this valid and approved way you have always
had
of roving will be vindicated. I'd hate to see you throw the baby out
with the
bathwater, so to speak.
Of course, I do have a selfish motive. No doubt. :) As do many
others on
the list.
This has been a strange month or two, with respect to all the
rule-oriented
traffic on VHF Contesting. Fatiguing, really. Something's going to
have to
shift, somehow.

Todd KC9BQA EN63ao 50 thru 1296
