Hello NLRS land. As you start to put together your Christmas Wish List and to consider if you have been naughty or nice, think about expanding to a new band in 2006. Several manufacturers now make very capable transverters for 6m and up, kit or completed. If you are thinking about a kit there is LOTS of local help to work with you if you get in a jam. Think about joining the fun that many of us have had on 10 GHz. Also think about adding a new microwave band on 2.3, 3.4, or 5.7. Activity in those areas has grown as documented in the most recent ARRL August UHF contest results. It sure is a lot easier to grab a small dish and your microwave equipment and go out and play rover or portable than it is your 144, 432 beams ! As a club, we will also be back to participate in the SBMS 2.3 and Up contest that occurs in the spring so add a band and come out and play.
