[NLRS] WSJT Modes and SDRs

Hey everyone,

In further quest of "education".

Since I know we have a few NLRSers who have experience with the Software
Defined Radios...and thinking about WSJT software that uses a computer with
sound card to encode and decode the WSJT messages/modulation BUT an SDR also
uses a computer with sound card and, in fact, has some particularly
stringent requirements on the sound card for optimal SDR performance.

SO...my question: Would it require TWO computers to "do" WSJT Modes with
a(n) SDR?

It would SEEM that, ultimately, software could created for the SDR to encode
and decode the WSJT "modulation" directly withOUT a need for a second
computer to "do" the WSJT part but I don't know if it has progressed that
far as of yet.

Please educate me (us?).

73, JK
