Hi all.
Saturday turned out to be the only day I got points. Equipment trouble on
Sunday made it a bust.
10GHZ only
700 QSO points
740 DX points
1440 Total, Claimed score.
Saturday, operated in town (Ridgeway Parkway, Mounds Park) and then ran
down to New Trier and Idell Ave sites. Planned on going to Cannon Falls,
but precipitation (virga rain, snow, sleet ?) at the site made me decide it
wasn't worth it.
Sunday, I heard nothing from the Ridgeway Parkeway site., although I was
hearing my own "weak signal" source gang busters. Finally, with Bruce's
(W9FZ) help, I found that nothing below 144.300 was working on the i.f.
radio. Burce and I worked up at 10368.350, but I called it quits.
On the bench, the radio worked just fine ! What the...? Finally, I put it
in the refrigerator for an hour (about 35°F). Didn't work !! As it warmed
up, it suddenly started working again below 144.300.
The radio had been in the car, in the (unheated) garage Saturday nite
Sunday. Air temp was about 36° Sunday morning. I think that was the
problem. At least I hope so. Just have to keep it warm.
Sorry I missed people on Sunday... could have easily doubled my DX points
if I'd been active. Next time!
