I thought I'd reflect on my trip this weekend. My plan was to drive out
Highway 12 to Litchfield then work south on Highway 22 to Cedar Mills. Then
take 7 west to Cosmos and 4 south as far as I could make it. Well, I didn't
go out that far.
I went to a site south of Delano that Gary (WB0LJC) told me about long ago.
The site was fine, and had a nice takeoff to the east, but is a bit far from
the main path (highway 12) for a sprint.
Next, I worked from a place ~3 miles north of Dassel on highway 15 that sells
boulders. The trees were at least 1/2 mile away, and I was a ways above the
road. This site would be fine to the east even if there was corn growing, but
I don't remmber what the view to the west was. After failing to work W0GHZ, I
decided not to go east and instead followed Highway 15 further south. I
worked from roads east or west of 15 as close to every 10 miles (direct, not
driving) as possible. Many of the sites were fine for this time of year, but
by September the corn will be 6' tall.

W9FZ on rain scatter when there wasn't much rain there!
Running 175W on 2M FM at the Scott Co. towers QRMed N0KP's scanner.
I built a new dish carrier in the trunk of my car, to keep it from
sliding around. So far, that seems to be working out.
Darn:
I didn't sweep anyone from all the grids I worked in. R-VUCC is still
elusive.
The roof mount for my 2M3E beam didn't work out.
My 135 amp-hour battery wouldn't have carried me through without the
Battery Booster, even though my charger seems to indicate that it is
charged.
I got raMy last stop on Saturday, en24tp,
