Hello NLRS.

Only six weeks to Rovermania II ! I have heard from many of you and I hope
that I have kept good notes.

Here is an update of rover plans. These are all tentative and subject to
change. I've also randomly "assigned" 222 and 432 primary rover freq's. If
you don't like yours, suggest another. Remember, this is simply where the
rover may hang out.

Some important up front comments:
1. Rovers are always free to do whatever whenever they want.
2. DO NOT bite off too much. Activating two, three, four grids, is just
fine !!!!
3. Plan on spending a bit more time in your first grid right at the start
as when the contest begins everyone is fresh meat and its a real rhubarb !

Other activities and notes:
1. N0HZ is working on a press release for the local FM nets. We are
looking to publish a planned FM activity hour, once in the evening, then again on
Sunday morning.
2. W2EV ask that I mention the possibility of using HamIM for rovers. If
anyone needs some help with HamIM, drop Ev an email at w2ev at arrl.net. HamIM
allows for active tracking of rovers based on "beaconing" using a 2m FM
simplex link.
3. Rich and Brent have been discussing the possibility of a multi-op. Is
Buck Hill available ? I'll see if I can get a hold of WA2HFI (now a KH6) to
see if he can shed any light on this. Also, Matt, KF0Q/R, mentioned that
he has some spare equipment and would sure like to see a multi-op going. I
may have a spare 432 rig.
4. We will have a "watering hole" freq for random rovers to use. Anyone
who want to grab their yagis and head out for a few hours can try calling CQ
Contest on 222.110, 432.110.
5. We need fixed stations as well as rovers ! Fixed stations, grease your
rotators and set your calendar for August 6 & 7 !

As always, feedback is welcomed. Keep feeding me your rover plans.
