Hello NLRS land, some odds & ends:

1. July 9, NLRS breakfast at the Old Country Buffet in Richfield.
Stacked pancakes are good for + 3 dB.
2. July 13 is the last day that you can submit logs for the June VHF
contest .... no log is too big nor to small. If you don't know how to
submit, ask.
3. July 16, 10gig tune-up and picnic at Mound Park in St. Paul. Big
thanks to Bob, W0AUS, for the organization.
4. July 16 and 17 is the CQWW VHF contest. 6m and 2m only. Full rules
can be found at http://www.cq-amateur-radio.com/
5. KC0IYT, with help from N0HJZ and myself, has completed a full club
roster. The NLRS has 80 members in good standing. We have supplied
our webmaster with a list of names and call signs (only) so that the NLRS
website roster can be updated.
6. The first weekend of the 10gig contest is August 20/21. This year we
are planning on dividing (roughly) into two groups that will be working
each other. One group will be fixed near Sisseton (one location on Sat,
another nearby location on Sunday) and a second group that will be roving
through south central MN. There may be a third group comprised of the
"northern guys". Most of those who are active on 10gigs are aware of the
discussion. If you are not, and/or are interested, contact WB0LJC or
myself for more information. We encourage all those who are interested to
join the fun.
7. ROVERMANIA II !!!!!. August 6/7. I have heard specifically from
W9FZ/R, W0ZQ/R, KC0IYT/R, and KF0Q/R. I've heard through the rumor mill
that N0DQS/R will be playing. I believe that K0MHC/R will also be out &
about. That is at least six very well equipped rovers. Anyone else
planning a rove for the August UHF contest ? Remember that this is just a
24 hr contest, so think about grabbing your equipment and heading to a grid
corner for a Sat afternoon or Sunday morning. Fixed or rover, also
consider FM operations. N0HZ will be sending a "press release" to the
local FM clubs for their announcement section of their nets. We have
planned on specific times to help foster FM activity. I can tell you
from experience that you can make it into the Twin Cites from the Winstead
grid corner on 223.5 FM. Also, I know of at least two potential
multi-ops; one being lead by N0HJZ and one by K9MU at the W0UC site .....
both guys are looking for HELP to make these come true, so PLEASE lend
these guys a hand as Rovermania is more than just the rovers; we need fixed
stations too !! Let me know if you have any rover plans, big or small.
If you operate on any bands above 144 MHz, please set your calendar for
August 6/7.

73, Jon
W0ZQ
