Hi again Jon:

I have dug into the query, and as I suspected, the NLRS was the first to
broach the Unlimited category in the contest and the software didn't
flag the >50 entries. Different software queries are run for each
contests. I have corrected the query. The web site has already been
corrected with some re-wording as well. The PDF will be corrected
before it is posted to the website and a feedback item will be printed
in an upcoming QST. I again apogize for not catching this.

Subject: Sept. VHF Contest Affiliated Club Competition Results & NLRS

Hi Dan.

We, the Northern Lights Radio Society, are disappointed to see our
affiliated club score for the Sept '04 VHF contest listed in the Medium
Category. The club submitted 51 logs which should have placed us into
the Unlimited Category.

The club worked very hard to generate this level of activity and to
submit logs. 51 logs represents the first time that the NLRS has made
the Unlimited category for the September VHF contest. We have attained
this level twice before in the January VHF contest ('97 and '04).

As a note, I would like to sensitive the League that there are other
affiliated clubs besides Mt. Airy VHF and PVRC who can put together 51
or more logs. In scanning previous year results, I see these clubs
correctly listed signally in the Unlimited category. In January '02,
Mt. Airy VHF club won the Unlimited category (alone in this category)
with 50 logs.

In closing I asked if we can correct this. I'm concerned that any hard
copy has gone to print. We would like to see the web site page
corrected. In addition, as an affiliated club, we are interested in
what type of corrective action(s) can be taken to help reduce this kind
of error in the future. The club is receptive to helping.

Regards,

Jon Platt, W0ZQ
NLRS Pres.
