Thank you Donn, Chris, Bruce and any others that have come
forward to assist in 2m SSB liaison for Wally and I. Wally and I have
planned to be there from the moment that it was hinted at that the
RRV was in the plans. We want to work all that we can for points for
YOU guys. We are not in the points running at all, but willing to assist
others if given the opportunity.

We are dependent upon 2M SSB 144.260Mhz liaison as was Jim
and I last year.

Wally and I continue to plan on Aug 20 weekend operations, starting
in Warren, EN18oe from several locations as far south as perhaps
the Rollag area, approx EN16us. It is hoped that we will be able to
work Sisseton many times, the Winnipeg group, Dennis and who
knows, maybe members of a rover pack at some point. Sunday's
operations are planned, but are in flux. We want to provide as many
Qs (and Grids) to Dennis and the Winnipeg group as we can too.

Saturday morning, we plan on trying to work north to Dennis and
Winnipeg and then look south. We then will start moving south from
Warren EN18oe. This will be on the Minnesota side following Hiway
75 to Crookston and then Hiway 9 as far south as we go. If we are up
to it, the return trip could be on the ND side providing additional
contacts meeting the 10mile rule in each respect... Time and
experience and availability of contacts will tell. We are NOT ROVER
operators! It is also understood, as last year there may be
considerable waiting. As long as we have communications we can
work through that.

I have equipped the pickup this week with 144.260 SSB, 6 elem and
80 watts, same as I had in the car last September. My family car is not
available.

Recall that last Sept, the temp was very high ... the forecast this
year is for much cooler. On our tropo path, Gary (GHZ) and I have
seen signals an S unit or more weaker now that cooler WX has
arrived . (Chance of rain Fri night 30% Grand Forks. It will be
interesting to see what we find. More CW and less SSB??

  PHD/ AWU Liaison 144.260 SSB .........................

The XYL is doing a MSP airport run Sat night to allow me to
participate. My son and his family are scheduled to fly NWA 9pm back
to LAX. The 2nd day the the impending strike. Wish us all luck.
